Hold Steady to Star in "Letterman" Sketch
Eagle-eyed T.V. Eye readers already know that the Hold Steady are appearing tonight on the "Late Show With David Letterman", airing at 11:30 pm EST on CBS. But what we didn't know until about five minutes ago is that not only will the band bring the rock via a live performance of a song on the show, but they're also the stars of a taped segment.
Apparently, Letterman's crew followed the Hold Steady on the road for a few days earlier this year, and captured what it's like to be in "America's Rock Band". The segment is about five minutes long, and it will air tonight before Letterman's Top 10 List. Set those DVRs now! (And stay tuned to Forkcast, of course.)
Tomorrow (July 17), Craig Finn and the boys launch their tour with the Loved Ones in Cleveland. And even though they dedicate an entire song to Memphis on their new record Stay Positive, the city is nowhere to be found on the band's itinerary. What gives?
Not that it needs repeating, but just two days into the tour, the Hold Steady will play our own Pitchfork Music Festival alongside a ton of other awesome bands.
