Should Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven should be re-titled Stairway To Spondulicks?
The answer to that question can only be 'yes' if the July edition of Conde Nast Portfolio is anything to go by.
The business publication estimates Stairway To Heaven has generated about $12 million in publishing royalties since its first appearnce on vinyl back in 1971 on Four Symbols.
But the four albums on which it has appeared (Zep declined to issue the song as a single), as well as sales of a downloadable album and two million DVDs with live performances of the song, have earned Atlantic Records and the band about $550 million.
That's an eye-watering amount, for sure. Read more (and continue to weep) here.
