AC/DC's video shoot for their new Rock 'N' Roll Train single: were you there?

Three hundred lucky AC/DC fans (including several classicrockmagazine.com and metalhammer.co.uk competition winners) took part in the video shoot for Rock N' Roll Train this past Friday (August 15), the first single to be plucked from what is highly-tipped to be the last ever album from AC/DC, Black Ice.

After taking over the outside of a pub at London Victoria railway station, coaches ferried all of the fans to a secret location at around 6pm where the band had been filming the video since 10am.

A record label representative had told us earlier on in the afternoon that AC/DC hadn't been asked until the morning of the shoot whether or not the fans would be allowed into the same room as them when recording the live performance portion of the video.

Needless to say, AC/DC welcomed their fans with open arms and at around 7.30pm, the fans were treated to the first playing of Rock 'N' Roll Train.

The track itself is classic AC/DC and, as good a record as Stiff Upper Lip was, this blows anything from that record clean out of the water.

With a pace that's in the same vein as Highway To Hell, Rock 'N' Roll Train has a huge chorus with a refrain of 'Runaway train/Running right off the tracks' that the fans in attendance picked up after the very first airing.

Indeed, when the band shot their first take of the song, it was visible that Brian Johnson and Angus Young were beaming at the reaction the track was receiving.

The track's other hook-line of 'Give it all/Give it up/Come on give it all you've got' was also belted out at throat-shredding volume by the end of the shoot.

The video itself takes place with the band playing in front of an industrial factory backdrop, although plenty of green-screen footage was also shot during the afternoon.

The sheer energy created in the room though was something to truly behold.

Awe-struck at the fact that the band were within touching distance, both audience and band were firing on all cylinders.

Angus, dressed in a navy blue school uniform, and Brian Johnson in a cut off Harley Davidson shirt, were particularly inspired, whipping everyone into a furious frenzy.

After finishing their final take, the band all went to the front of the stage to shake hands and sign autographs for everybody and in doing so also let slip a few details of what to expect from AC/DC in the future.

Black Ice will feature 15 tracks with Johnson describing them to people as "14 songs that are all as good as this one (Rock 'N' Roll Train)".

He also said that Europe would see the band sooner rather than later when the band tour the album.

Wrapping up filming at around 10pm, both band and audience can look back on a job well done.

Trust us, the energy given by both will come flying through your TV screens when the clip airs at some point in September.
