Velma Middleton (ca. 1917–10 February 1961) was an American jazz vocalist born in St. Louis, Missouri, best-known for having sung with Louis Armstrong big bands and small groups. She was with Louis Armstrong from 1942-1961, when she had a stroke in Africa on tour with him and died soon after in Sierra Leone.[citation needed]
