Scotland international hooker Scott Lawson is set to swap club allegiances from Sale Sharks to Gloucester Rugby.
The former Glasgow Warriors player has signed a one year contract with last season’s Heineken Cup quarter-finalists Gloucester who brought the 26-year-old international and as cover for Ross McMillan who sustained a an injury during a pre-season game against Bayonne.
Lawson will join two former Sharks now at Kingsholm in fellow hooker Andy Titterell and Olivier Azam.
Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan believes that Lawson is a high-calibre option for his scrum and is looking forward to see his hooker progress.
The 16 times capped international is delighted with the move: “To get an opportunity with a side like Gloucester is fantastic and I am just desperate for the chance to show them what I can do. This is a new chapter in my career and I am looking forward to it. Gloucester are regarded as a hugely go-forward and ambitious club and I want to help play my part in that quest for success.” said the hooker.
The Cherry and Whites will get their European campaign under way at home to the 2006 Heineken Cup finalists Biarritz Olympique on Saturday, 11 October at 2.35 pm.
