Jack's Mannequin heads out with 'The Glass Passenger'

Pop-rock balladeers Jack's Mannequin are getting ready to drop their sophomore effort, "The Glass Passenger," and they'll play the album in its entirety on the road this fall.

The "Hammers and Strings: An Evening With Jack's Mannequin and The Glass Passenger" tour is set to launch Oct. 14 in Atlanta, GA, and visit intimate venues across the US, as well as Toronto and Montreal, through late November. Two-night stands are booked in Los Angeles and New York City.

Special guests Eric Hutchinson, Fun and Treaty of Paris will take turns supporting the tour, which is detailed below.

"The Glass Passenger," due Sept. 30, follows Jack's Mannequin's 2005 debut, "Everything In Transit," which was released just as singer/songwriter Andrew McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia.

The then-22-year-old was forced to postpone all music-related activities and immediately undergo chemotherapy, which led to a bout with pneumonia that nearly killed him. After going into remission following a stem-cell transplant from his sister, McMahon was able to make a full recovery.

The singer/pianist said "The Glass Passenger" is about trying to break away from the past.

"The completion of this album and its release represents the closing of a chapter," he explained in the band's bio. "It was a difficult time, but also one of immense hope. It was during this period that my music and my life were the most seamlessly bound together--a truth that makes this album's release far more pleasing for me than most could ever imagine."

The record's lead single, "The Resolution," is currently making waves on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart and can be heard at the Jack's Mannequin MySpace page.
