Sufjan Produces Debut LP From the Welcome Wagon
Let us extend a warm welcome to the Welcome Wagon, who will welcome their debut album, Welcome to the Welcome Wagon, into the world December 9 thanks to Asthmatic Kitty.
Like the good label ambassador he is, Sufjan Stevens helped welcome the Welcome Wagon by producing, arranging, and providing "extensive instrumentation" on the duo's new disc. Comprised of Presbyterian pastor the Reverend Thomas Vito Aiuto and his wife Monique, the Welcome Wagon craft what AK calls "a genre of gospel music that is refreshingly plain."
Welcome to the Welcome Wagon is but the latest in a flurry of upcoming Asthmatic Kitty releases in the wake of this past spring's big signing spree. The label will also deliver I Heart Lung's previously reported Interoceans on September 23, another Land of a Thousand Rappers offering called Vol 2: WARHOL BUCKS on October 14, and Grampall Jookabox's second full-length Ropechain on November 4.
