Montgomery Gentry keeps rollin'
Country music duo Montgomery Gentry is finishing its support slot on Toby Keith's "Biggest & Baddest Tour" and getting ready for another round of US dates.
Shows with Keith wrap this weekend in Salt Lake City, after which Montgomery Gentry will segue into a schedule that includes playing fairs, festivals, casinos, theaters and arenas across the country through late November. The musicians have also started filling in their 2009 calendar. Details are listed below.
Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry have been out since spring supporting their seventh record, "Back When I Knew It All," which surfaced in June and made the Top 20 on The Billboard 200 and Top 3 on the country albums chart. The title track marked the performers' fastest-rising single to date and became their fourth No. 1 radio hit; the follow-up, "Roll With Me," is currently climbing Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.
"Back When I Knew It All" returns Montgomery Gentry to its grittier rock roots, thanks to fans who were asking for more of the band's original rockin' sound, according to a press release. The set features guest collaborations with Keith on "I Pick My Parties" and Jypsi's Lillie Mae Rische on "God Knows Who I Am."
The new album follows 2006's Grammy-nominated effort, "Some People Change," which delivered three back-to-back Top 5 singles, including No. 1 hit "Lucky Man."
Montgomery Gentry is also taking center stage to promote the Vault beverage program "Honoring the Uniform: Calling for Support." The initiative calls on people across the country to send handwritten postcards to military troops and raise up to $100,000 for the USO through MyCokeRewards.com. The musicians will drum up publicity and participate in special events.
"As USO entertainment tour veterans, we know this program is a great way to spread goodwill and offer thanks to the brave men and women serving our country in the US and around the world," Montgomery said in a statement.
