[edit] Prods in the userspace

Just a quick reminder that prod tags apply only to articles or disambiguation pages. If you wish to delete a page in userspace, you can use either {{db-u1}} or {{db-author}}. I'm currently replacing the prod tags on your tagged sandboxes with the latter so they can be eliminated more quickly. B.Wind (talk) 02:27, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Vernon White . . . Talk 15:52, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
I would use {{db-user}} as they're in userspace ... (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 16:53, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] You are now a Reviewer

Wikipedia Reviewer.svg

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:18, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Gilpin

I like the way you built this article up, you are very thorough and add nothing more than what is factual. Where the sources disagree, or are unclear, you have shown that; not a common enough practice. I'll remember to bring anything I find to the talk. Regards, cygnis insignis 18:23, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi again. I was merging the DNB into Edwin Wyndham-Quin, 3rd Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl, but I'm not sure if I made a mess of things. It says, "The son, Wyndham-Quin [subject of article?], graduated B.A. at Trinity College, Dublin, in the spring of 1833", and if I read this right it contradicts the Times obit. Can you check what I did, and verify the obit? cygnis insignis 07:57, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
I have had a little fiddle with the text but need to look closer at the Times obit and the ODNB article, which I have printed out. Why the interest in "Q", please?Vernon White . . . Talk 17:04, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Do my edits answer the question? He went to Eton and then TCD. His son went to Eton then Christ Church, Oxford (Times Obit). The ODNB article says of the son: "Lady Dunraven, however, remained strongly protestant; the boy was sent to Rome for education, and forbidden to communicate with his mother. This produced an obstinate resistance. Lord Adare, as he then was, after some tuition in Paris, went to Christ Church, Oxford, in 1858." Hope this helps Vernon White . . . [edit] Gewen

Hi Vernon I am not sure why you siezed on the Thomas Gewen article, but it is always satisfying, after one has created an article, to see it taken up and developed so thoughtfully. Makes work on obscure 17th century politicians seem all the more worthwhile- Regards Motmit (talk) 20:29, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Autopatrolled

Wikipedia Autopatrolled.svg

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 11:28, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Hosni Mubarak

Just wanted you to know: I got an edit conflict and what I copied and pasted apparently didn't have the ref name where the reference was first used. If you don't mind, since the first person to put a reference there used the same link I found above, and I replaced that link with a ref name, I'd like to put it back. The formatting is better with my reference.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:14, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to conflict with your edit. the NY Times article is much better than the BBC item. Don't know what happened to the Ref named Kirkpatrick, when I looked. Vernon White . . . Talk 22:26, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Sorry. It could be I just forgot to put it there, but when I got the edit conflict I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to what I was doing. I was concentrating on getting the edit in the place it should be. What happens is that sometimes when someone else is editing at the same time, you have to redo everything to save it. Whether my ref name got in there earlier I don't know, but it should have.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 22:34, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit] "time out of mind"

In the article Enys family of Enys in Cornwall the lead has the statement, "time out of mind". I do not understand what this refers to, and I suspect the same would be true of the majority of readers. Maury Markowitz (talk) 11:59, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

I've edited the article to include a link to the Wiktionary entry time out of mind. DuncanHill (talk) 14:52, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, Duncan! Vernon White . . . Talk 18:06, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Disambiguation link notification

Hi. When you recently edited Edmund Sturge, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Monserrat (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
