Google Summer of Code
Google Summer of Code 2008 concluded on September 2, 2008. We were delighted that 83% of our 1125 student participants successfully completed their projects, and you can check out the actual code produced by these students by visiting each mentoring organization's page below. You may also want to check out our traditional map, which displays the connections between all of our mentors and students worldwide (KML - 1.4 MB, viewable with Google Earth or Google Maps.
We'll continue posting news regularly about the results of the program to the Google Open Source Blog. If you are interested in participating in future instances of Google Summer of Code, now is an excellent time to begin further exploration: explore our mentoring organizations' ideas lists for inspiration, peruse our Frequently Asked Questions, and take a look at all of the resources on the program wiki. If you are a student, the best way to prepare for Google Summer of Code is to learn more about Open Source development now.
First, take a look at the program FAQs and Terms of Service. You can also ask questions on our program discussion list, but please browse the archives first to see if your question has already been answered. Many knowledgable folks will also be hanging out in #gsoc on Freenode, so feel free to check there to get your questions answered real-time.
