Frequently Asked Questions

Why were my poll results reset?!
Don't worry. Your old results were not lost. When we re-launched the Mister Poll web site on December 4th, 2007, all polls results were reset. The old results were saved in a separate area, so you can still refer to them whenever you like. In your poll listings, each poll from the old web site should now have a launch named "Converted Results". That is what you want.
Ok, then why were my poll results separated?

We realize the separation is not ideal; however, it was necessary. The old Mister Poll site only kept the total number of votes. The new system is much more advanced. It actually keeps every individual vote (anonymously), and for multi-question polls, it remembers which votes were submitted together. This lets you download the voting records for detailed analysis, such as cross-question patterns, as well as for accessing fill-in-the-blank and essay answers.

The summary-only data from the old web site simply isn't compatible with the new voting system. It doesn't have the necessary details. We did want everybody to still have access to their old results though, so we made them available as a separate "legacy" result type.

How do I get my poll added to the directory
When you launch your poll, be sure to select a directory category. Doing so will submit your poll for review. If your poll is approved, it will be included the Mister Poll directory, search engine, or both.
How long will it take for my poll to be reviewed?
The time can vary. It usually takes 3-5 days, but it can occasionally be longer than that. We do our best to keep up. Please be patient with us. You will receive an email when your poll has been reviewed. You can also check the status of your review at any time by viewing the Stats page for the launch that you submitted.
Why was my poll put in the adult section?
Most likely your poll was simply too explicit to make available to our general audience. While we do have some public polls with sexual content, those that contain only sexually related questions or that are very graphic in nature will usually be placed in the adult section. Polls that use strong language, involve sexuality and minors, or border on fetish behaviors will almost always be classified as adult. Sometimes this is a judgement call on the part of the reviewers, and their opinions may differ from yours. In general, a poll that would be rated PG-13 will normally be included in our public directory. Those rated R and above will be marked as adult polls.
Why was my poll made limited interest?
A limited interest poll is one that was approved by our reviewers for inclusion in the Mister Poll search engine but not in the directory. This is usually done when the reviewer feels that the poll may be of interest to those specifically searching for a focused subject, but not to visitors browsing a broader directory category. We also often use this classification for polls that are specific to a very localized geographic area or have to do with a subject that's been saturated by a great number of other polls.
Why was my poll rejected?
While we do review every poll that is submitted, and we try out best to be fair, not every poll is approved. Some polls are just not a good fit for our public areas. If your poll is not approved, it doesn't mean you can't get voters. You can still promote it yourself outside of the Mister Poll web site. Post its link on your own web site, your MySpace page, in related message forums, etc. Pass it around to your friends and family. Spread the word!
