[edit] Strongman career

Ross was 3 Times UK Strongest Man (Ultimate Strength Challenge) - 2004, 2006, 2007 [2]

In 2003, Ross lifted three cars with the rear wheels completely off the ground, the combined weight including the frames of the three Citroen Saxos was almost 3 tonnes. This was in aid of Cancer Research.[citation needed]

He has competed in the World's Strongest Man competition on five occasions.[1]

Ross holds many Strongman records:

  • Giant Log - 115 kg - 19 reps
  • Steel Log - 300 mm diameter - 175 kg max - 12 reps
  • Deadlifted 3 Citroen Saxos at once from the back below the knees - combined weight 2750 kg
  • Held a 1200kg Citroen Berlingo Van for 176 s
  • Held a 1400 kg BMW car - 76 s
  • Held up 2 Citroen Saxos from the back combined weight 1700 kg for 67 s
  • Deadlift - Lifted 430 kg (WR: 455 kg) 2006 UK strongest man

Glenn's usual catchphrase during strongman competitions is "I think I'm having a massive heart attack!". This was actually thought to have been the case during a televised competition in 2004 when Glenn complained that he couldn't feel any sensation in his left arm after an unsuccessful lift. However this was later confirmed to have been brought on by a dense fatty deposit that had been dislodged during lifting, which was putting pressure on the network of nerves (brachial plexus) leading down the arm, numbing all sensation. Ross is also well known for using the catchphrase "Who's the daddy?!"

[edit] Size

Although he is only 6'1" (1.83 m), he weighs 441 lb (36 stone, 200 kg)[3] making him one of the heaviest strongmen in the world. His frame is emphasized by his body measurements; his neck is 24 inches, his biceps 24½ inches, his chest is 63 inches and his thighs are 35 inches, as well as a 50 inch waist.[citation needed]

[edit] Personal

Ross has appeared on several TV shows, including Kelly Show, They Think It's All Over, The John Daley Show, Harry Hill's TV Burp, Celebrity Big Brother's Big Mouth and Hole In The Wall. Ross works as a bouncer in County Down when he is not training.[4] Ross is married with two children.[4]
