The Gwinnett Braves will be the new Triple-A minor league baseball team of the Atlanta Braves as a part of the International League in 2009. On January 14, 2008, it was announced that the Richmond Braves will move from Richmond, Virginia, to Gwinnett County, Georgia beginning in 2009. The announcement was made after the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners unanimous vote.[1]

[edit] Ballpark

The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau hosted a groundbreaking ceremony commemorating the start of construction on the ballpark for the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves baseball team. Construction is to be complete in time for opening day in April 2009.

The ballpark, which has yet to be officially named, will be a state of the art facility that reflects a historic look and feel. It will provide an intimate setting with a total capacity of 10,000, and ultimately serve as the focal point of a mixed-use entertainment district.[2]

[edit] Logos and uniforms

The official colors of the Gwinnett Braves are navy blue and scarlet, the same as their Atlanta parent. The primary logo resembles the Atlanta Braves primary, but with silver outline and with the word "Gwinnett" centered above.

The home jersey has the classic Braves' wordmark centered on the front, with the "Gwinnett" underscore underlining it. However, unlike Atlanta's jersey with navy blue and scarlet piping, the Gwinnett team's jersey features scarlet sleeves with blue stripes. Other uniform apparel has yet to be revealed.[3]
