Keräşen Tatars ([keræˈʃen], Tatar Cyrillic: керәшеннәр, Latin: Keräşennär, Keräşen orthography: кряшенняр[1], Russian: татары-кряшены) is a sub-group of the Volga Tatars, frequently referred as one of the minority ethnic groups in Russian Federation. They are mostly found in Tatarstan. Keräşen Tatars are Orthodox Christians and some of them regard themselves as being different from other Tatars even though most Keräşen dialects differ only slightly from the Central Dialect of the Tatar language. The 2002 census recorded 24,668 Keräşen in Russia.
