Dat Phan, August 2005.

Dat Phan (born January 25, 1975 in Saigon, South Vietnam), is a Vietnamese American stand-up comedian. When he was a child, he, his mother, and nine of his siblings immigrated to the United States. They suffered financial hardships throughout his childhood. He grew up in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego, California, then spent his teenage years in Santee, California, a suburb of San Diego. Phan was voted most successful of his class at his West Hills High School ten year reunion, and was voted into Grossmont Community College's Walk of Fame.

In 2003, he entered NBC's stand-up comedy competition reality show, Last Comic Standing, and became The Original Winner of Last Comic Standing. He was picked on by the other contestants due to his relative youth in the comedy world. Dat Phan was the surprise winner of Last Comic Standing, and subsequently has made cameo appearances in Hollywood films such as Cellular and Love is the Drug. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

In 2008, Dat Phan Productions is working on several upcoming projects including a live DVD & CD to be released later this year and preproduction on a movie titled Yellow Fever. He recently agreed to endorse the Jade Ribbon Campaign established to fight against hepatitis B and liver cancer. [1]
