Tyndale University College and Seminary is a liberal arts college and seminary located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

According to the Intercollegiate Studies Institute's Choosing the Right College Guide (2008/09) "Tyndale is now an accredited liberal arts college with a dynamic Great Books-based core curriculum called "the Shaping of the Western Mind"..."the school is infused by both a high-minded approach to ideas and a traditional Christian ethos, which together infuse all aspects of its education and campus life. This rare combination might well make it worthwhile to cross the border." (p.1059)

Tyndale is an affiliate of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU), the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Christian Higher Education Canada (CHEC), Christians in the Visual Arts (CVA), the National Association of Christian College Admissions Personnel (NACCAP), the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador (PAONL), the Association for Christians in Student Development (ACSD), the Christian Association of Canadians in Student Development (CACSD), Seneca College, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USVA), and the United States Department of Education (USOE).[citation needed]

The Toronto Bible Training School was founded in 1894, and changed its name to "Toronto Bible College" soon after. It became Ontario Bible College in 1968, when it merged with the London College of Bible and Missions from London, Ontario.[citation needed] Founded in 1976 as Ontario Theological Seminary, when OBC moved from its longtime home in The Annex to the former City of North York.

In 1998, the school was named after William Tyndale, an Reformation theologian of the sixteenth century, following a period of internal restructuring.[citation needed]

The Ontario Parliament granted Tyndale University College & Seminary the right to confer Bachelor degrees in 2003.[1]

In June of 2006, Tyndale acquired a neighboring complex, the St. Joseph's Morrow Park, from the Sisters of St. Joseph.[citation needed]

On December 5, 2007 Tyndale was given final approval to offer a 12-month Bachelor of Education program.

The University College offers certificates and bachelor's degrees, while the seminary offers master's and doctoral degrees in divinity and theology. The seminary also offers courses at extension sites in Mississauga or Ottawa.

Hudson Taylor

The Hudson Taylor Centre for Chinese Ministries in named after Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), pioneer missionary to China and founder of the China Inland Mission (CIM), now Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF). It exists to advance Chinese ministries in North America and around the world and offers training in Mandarin & English-language ministries, biblical interpretation, pastoral and family counseling, and church planting.

Tyndale University College and Seminary is fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada to award undergraduate and graduate degrees.[citation needed]

The J.William Horsey Library holds over 100,000 books, periodical volumes and A/V resources, including classic and modern Christian works. The library receives current periodical subscriptions in paper format and also subscribes to electronic resources.

Students are required to refrain from drunkenness, the use of profane language, and involvement in the occult. Unmarried and gay or lesbian students must practice sexual abstinence.

The Potluck Committee on the Bayview Campus of Tyndale (Bachelor of Education program) works together to create a sense of community and camaraderie through fellowship over bean salads and other favourite dishes.
