[edit] Overview

Though founded in 2000, Silence released their first full-length album, The Cleansing, only in 2007. The album was recorded with producer John Travis (Static-X) and mixed by Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted). The album debuted at number 94 on the Billboard 200[1], selling 7,250 copies the first week, and became the second highest selling artist debut in Century Media history.[citation needed]

Prior to signing to Century Media, the band released self-recorded demos in 2003 and 2004, and in late 2005 the group put out their first quality studio-recorded release, the Suicide Silence EP[2][3] which was released in the U.K. by In At The Deep End Records and in the U.S. by SOS Records. The band was added to the Mayhem Festival that took place summer 2008.

They toured Europe with Parkway Drive and Bury Your Dead, following a successful U.S. tour with the same bands. Suicide Silence will also be playing select dates on the Thrash and Burn tour. They will then headline the European Summer Slaughter Tour and follow that with a headlining tour of north America with Architects, Beneath The Massacre, and Emmure

[edit] New album

Shortly before embarking on the Mayhem Festival, the band's MySpace title read "Suicide Silence (Is writing a new album)". On June 26th, 2008, Mitch Lucker appeared on the Headbangers Ball blog podcast. In the interview, Mitch stated that the new album would be tracked as opposed to being recorded live, like The Cleansing. Mitch said fans could expect the album to be released late 2008 or early 2009. He also said that the new album would blow The Cleansing away. A producer has not yet been selected by the band.[5]

The band has been playing a new song, entitled Vile Creation, from the upcoming album on their Cleansing The Nation tour. Videos of the song can be found on YouTube.
