Sunnyslope is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 4,437 at the 2000 census.

Sunnyslope is located at 34°1′14″N, 117°25′24″W (34.020613, -117.423352)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.6 km²), all of it land.

[edit] Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 4,437 people, 1,086 households, and 963 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,216.9 people per square mile (1,241.4/km²). There were 1,123 housing units at an average density of 814.2/sq mi (314.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 57.70% White, 3.88% African American, 1.58% Native American, 2.28% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 30.56% from other races, and 3.90% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 53.10% of the population.

There were 1,086 households out of which 51.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 11.3% were non-families. 8.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.96 and the average family size was 4.13.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 34.4% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 99.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $50,208, and the median income for a family was $48,036. Males had a median income of $35,875 versus $26,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $14,055. About 15.7% of families and 18.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.7% of those under age 18 and 9.2% of those age 65 or over.

In the state legislature Sunnyslope is located in the 31st Senate District, represented by Republican Robert Dutton, and in the 66th Assembly District, represented by Republican Kevin Jeffries. Federally, Sunnyslope is located in California's 44th congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of R +6[3] and is represented by Republican Ken Calvert.
