Gerardo Sofovich

Gerardo Sofovich, born in Buenos Aires in 1937 is an Argentine businessman, TV host and film director.

He was the mentor of TV programmes Polémica en el bar and La noche del Domingo. Sofovich also hosts A la manera de Sofovich and Sin Límite SMS, broadcast on Canal 9.

During the 1970s and 1980s he directed several picaresque films starred by comedians Alberto Olmedo and Jorge Porcel. Though critically panned, these movies were quite successful in reaching a large audience.

As a businessman, he has backed main spectacles on Buenos Aires' Corrientes Avenue.

His late brother Hugo Sofovich had a similar career as a film director and theater impresario.
