There is also a Market Street Subway in Philadelphia,_Pennsylvania, through which run that city's Market-Frankford_Line and SEPTA_Subway-Surface_Trolley_Lines}} The '''Market Street Subway''' is a tunnel that carries both Rapid_transit and Light_rail traffic in San_Francisco,_California, United_States. It runs under the length of Market Street between the Embarcadero_Station and Castro_Street_Station and is used by both Muni_Metro and BART. The upper level is used by Muni Metro lines and the lower level is used by BART lines. BART doesn't run through the whole subway, it turns south and runs under Mission_Street southwest of Civic Center Station. The eastern end of the BART level is connected to the Transbay_Tube. On the Muni Metro level, the southwestern end of the Market Street Subway connects to the much older Twin_Peaks_Tunnel, and the northeastern end connects to the surface along the Embarcadero. The Embarcadero portal was not originally part of the Market Street Subway and was opened in 1998. It is only used by the N_Judah line, but when the Third_Street_Light_Rail_Project is in operation, the K_Ingleside line will continue through as well, as the T_Third. The K_Ingleside, L_Taraval, and M_Oceanview Muni Metro lines run through the entire tunnel and into the Twin Peaks Tunnel. The J_Church and N_Judah lines leave the tunnel through an exit that connects to Church Street. ==Stations on the Market Street Subway== There are a total of seven stations in the tunnel. Four are used by BART, five by all of the Muni Metro lines, and two by only three Metro lines: *Embarcadero_Station - J, K, L, M, and N Muni Metro lines, BART *Montgomery_Street_Station - J, K, L, M, and N Muni Metro lines, BART *Powell_Street_Station - J, K, L, M, and N Muni Metro lines, BART *Civic Center Station - J, K, L, M, and N Muni Metro lines, BART *Van_Ness_Station - J, K, L, M and N Muni Metro lines *Church Street Station - K, L, and M Muni Metro lines (The J stops at the station above-ground and the N stops nearby) *Castro_Street_Station - K, L, and M Muni Metro lines {{Muni}} {{Bay Area Rapid Transit}} Category:Bay_Area_Rapid_Transit Category:San_Francisco_Municipal_Railway Category:Tunnels_in_California
