    • October 30 - New York Yankees championship in the World Series.
  • 2008
    • February 5 - New York Giants championship in Super Bowl XLII. This caused considerable controversy,[citation needed] as the Giants play in New Jersey, and had not been given a parade for their Super Bowl triumph in 1987 (The Giants cancelled plans for any celebrations in 1991 due to the Gulf War).
