From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 2001 NBA Draft took place on 27 June 2001 in New York City, New York. Kwame Brown became the first high school player drafted with the first overall pick. This draft is widely regarded as a good one for international players[citation needed]; Pau Gasol (Spain), Tony Parker (France) and Mehmet Okur (Turkey), who would all go on to become NBA All-Stars. The Grizzlies drafted as Vancouver, then moved to Memphis weeks later.
