Sebastian Kehl (born February 13, 1980) is a German footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Borussia Dortmund. He is naturally left footed and has also occasionally appeared at left back. He is well known for his tackling as well as his passing.
He is the current captain of Dortmund; he first wore the captain's armband in a 2-1 German Supercup victory over Bayern Munich.
Born in Fulda (Hesse), Kehl joined Borussia Dortmund in 2001 and has made 127 appearances. Kehl is undoubtedly a key player for the club, but he has faced many injury problems over his career; he made only 20 league appearances for the first team over the past two seasons.
He made his international debut against Slovakia in 2001 and has made a total of 31 appearances for Germany (as of July 8, 2006). Kehl won the runner-up in 2002 World Cup and the 3rd place in 2006 World Cup.
