Sale Sharks not only have the monumental challenge of playing in the same Pool as the Heineken Cup champions, but, will now have to try and qualify for the final eight without hooker Sebastien Bruno.
Bruno will miss the Heineken Cup Pool Stage after picking up a bicep injury during a Premiership game this week.
Bruno’s ruptured bicep means he could be out of the action for at least four months.
In a further blow to Phillipe Saint Andre’s side lock Sean Cox who will also be unavailable until March through injury.
Director of Rugby Philippe Saint Andre said: "This is bad news for both players and the club. Both Sebastien and Sean have been playing well and they will be missed.”
The Sharks will start their European campaign against ASM Clermont Auvergne on Saturday, 11 October.
