Partridges are birds in the pheasant family, Phasianidae. They are a non-migratory Old World group.

These are medium-sized birds intermediate between the larger pheasants and the smaller quails. The Partridges are native to Europe, Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. The partridges are ground-nesting seed-eaters.

There are two common types of partridge both of which can be found in North America as a game bird. North America is home to the chukar partridge and the gray partridge. The gray partridge is more commonly found in decidous forests. The gray partridge is less colorous then it's relitive the chukar partridge. The Partridge is 10-14in. long and weighs less then one pound and is the favorite game bird to many hunters.
