Alexander Cintrón (born December 17, 1978 in Humacao, Puerto Rico) is a Major League Baseball infielder who is currently a shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles. He is a switch-hitter and throws right-handed.
Drafted in the 37th round of the 1997 amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cintrón made his major league debut with the D-Backs on July 24, 2001. Cintrón won a World Series ring that year, getting 2 postseason at bats. On March 8, 2006, Cintrón was traded to the Chicago White Sox for Jeff Bajenaru. The White Sox waived him on November 29, 2007, and he signed a minor league contract with an invite to spring training with the Chicago Cubs on February 18, 2008. He was released on March 26, 2008. On March 31, Andy MacPhail, GM of the Orioles, announced that Cintrón had been signed to a minor-league deal to play for the Norfolk Tides. On May 11, his contract was purchased by the Orioles, and he was added to the active roster.
In a seven-season career, Cintrón has compiled a .277 batting average with 32 home runs and 212 RBI in 598 games.
