This article is about the computer system Equinox Desktop Environment. For other uses, see
EDE (disambiguation).
EDE or Equinox Desktop Environment is a small desktop environment that is meant to be simple and fast. It is based on a modified version of FLTK called eFLTK.
In the future, EDE 2 will be released, based on regular FLTK.[1]. In EDE 2, FLTK will be extended by EDE's own library edelib. edelib contains functionality for creating a window, saving program configuration, communicating via D-Bus, loading icon themes, etc.[2] EDE2 will be following the FreeDesktop.org guidelines.[3]
[edit] EDE distributions
EDE is not as common in Linux distributions as other desktop environments such as KDE, GNOME, and Xfce. It is available as an optional package in Minix 3.[4]
