Fucked Up Plan Marathon Show With Guests, Fall Tour
Fucked Up? Doesn't even begin to describe it. The Toronto hardcore set, just a few days from Matador's October 6 UK and October 7 U.S. releases of their Chemistry of Common Life LP, have announced a free 12-hour show on October 14, taking place in the storefront of New York City boutique Rogan. From 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., the band will do their gnarly thing for an all-ages crowd, giving away both free beer to of-age attendees and copies of their limited-edition "Royal Swan" 7".
One wonders, however, if the Matablog is putting us on just a little bit with the announcement of planned cameo appearances from the likes of Vivian Girls, Matt Sweeney, Mobb Deep, Ryan Sawyer from Tall Firs, David Cross, John Cale, Michael Gira, Akon, the Edge, Russell Simins, and more. Not that I wouldn't like to hear Akon ad-lib over "No Epiphany", but Akon doesn't just collaborate with anybody. (Oh wait, yeah he does.)
There's plenty of Fucked Up shit coming to a stage near you shortly, as the band will embark on their fall tour October 11 in Montreal. Along the way, they'll share dates with the Vivian Girls and Psychedelic Horseshit. Probably shouldn't tell your mother you plan to attend the latter double bill.
Also, Fucked Up and the Vivian Girls will do sets on the University of Maryland's WMUC from 3-6 p.m. October 19 in advance of their show at D.C.'s Rock and Roll Hotel.
