In a post to their MySpace blog, Sheffield, England rockers the Long Blondes have announced a parting of ways. The post, titled "We have decided to call it a day.", finds guitarist Dorian Cox explaining that the stroke he suffered in June has made him unsure when he'll be well enough to play guitar again. The stroke had forced the band off the road through the summer, though a recent statement from their people suggested Cox was "on the road to recovery."

"On behalf of the band," Cox writes, "I'd like to say a big thank you to anyone who ever came to one of our shows, bought one of our records or danced to one of our songs in a club. Thank you, if it wasn't for you the whole thing would have been pointless. Finally on a personal note, thanks for all your well wishing messages."

The band leaves us with 2006's Someone to Drive You Home and this spring's "Couples". Today, the Blondes issued "Singles", a compendium of, well, you know, from Angular Recording Corporation in the UK.

"Once and Never Again"

"Weekend Without Makeup"

"Giddy Stratospheres"

"Guilt"
