Minami-Iō-jima

Smallest (at 3.7 km² in area) and most southerly of the Kazan-rettō, Minami-Iō-jima (南硫黄島) lies 58 km south from the southwestern tip of Iō-jima and 131 km south from the northern island of Kita-Iō-jima. The island rises from the sea as a very steep-sided and eroded cone of 970 m in height — the highest point in the whole island group.
