TVOTR's Kyp Malone Preps New Releases With Iran
Boy, if your IP address ends up on the wrong sorta list 'cause of this one, don't say we didn't warn ya: Buddy, the new EP from noisemaking axis of goodness Iran-- featuring TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone, Return to Cookie Mountain contributor Aaron Aites, and former Grand Mal member Aaron Romanello-- is due in digital-only form November 4 from Narnack. It's the first new release from this crew in some time, and hey, here's an amusing video about the EP I think we all can enjoy:
The EP matches its just Forkcasted title track with a cover of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band highlight "Isolation", and "Airport 77", a prelude to a tune called "Airport 79" that will appear on the band's forthcoming full-length, Dissolver. That disc is due February 3 from Narnack and features some production work from Dave Sitek, though there's no word on the full tracklist just yet. Say, whatever happened to these guys being on Dead Oceans??
Iran are doing a cool little thing with the EP, if you're game: pick up Buddy on iTunes, and you'll get a discount on Dissolver when it's released. And, if you can rope one of your own chums into buying a Buddy of their own, you'll get yourself a limited edition "Buddy Series" 7" sporting an exclusive Iran cut (title TBA) on the A-side and a jam from another yet-to-be-named Narnack artist on the B. What a friend we have in Narnack.
Iran plan to tour in 2009, but for now they have a single live appearance, and it's coming up quick. They'll hit the Narnack CMJ showcase at Santos Party House in New York City October 25 along with the Muslims, Vaz, Restavrant, and the Sundelles. Iran + Muslims? Please, nobody alert this nutty broad.
Kyp won't be onboard for CMJ, however, as he's touring the land with TV on the Radio right now.
