The Wild & Wonderful Walrus Party Spring 2007

The Walrus Foundation is pleased to announce the latest in its series of Wild & Wonderful Walrus Parties, to be held June 24th, 2007. Join master of ceremonies Carol Off, co-host of cbc Radio's As It Happens, for a fantastic evening of conversation, theatre, readings, and music. Ken Alexander, editor of The Walrus, will lead an on-stage conversation about manufactured landscapes and extraction with internationally renowned photographer (and Walrus Summer Reading Issue cover artist) Edward Burtynsky. As well, 2007 Soulpepper Theatre Company acting ensemble members C. David Johnson, Diego Matamoros, and Cara Pifko will read an excerpt from Big Ticket, by celebrated playwright Jim Garrard. Giller Prize-nominated novelist Camilla Gibb will share a new piece of short fiction, and musician T. Nile -- named Best New Emerging Artist at the Canadian Folk Music Awards -- will perform. The evening begins with a wine reception at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto's Distillery District, followed by the performance. Afterwards, Artcore Gallery will host a reception featuring a silent auction, exquisite food, music by DJ Roomtone, and dancing.
