Contacting the GNU Project and the Free Software Foundation (FSF)

We strive to put the answers to all possible questions you might have on our website. However, sometimes, you might have a question or issue that requires our attention. This page describes how to contact us in these circumstances.

Please keep in mind, though, that the time we spend answering queries from the public reduces the amount of time we can continue to work on writing, documenting, protecting and promoting free software. So, please do look to see if your question is addressed on our website first. If you can't find the answer, use the table below to figure out what to do.

Contacting the FSF and the GNU Project via Email

We prefer that you contact the FSF and the GNU Project via email, when possible. This allows for best routing of your query. The table below explains our various addresses and when to use them.

If you need technical support, technical information about GNU software or other free software, or are trying to find a particular free software or GNU program,

please note that we do not provide technical support. Try our mailing list pages, our IRC-page, our software page, our Free Software Directory and our service directory.

For inquiries about the content of our website, ideas for our website, or corrections of typographical errors,

contact the GNU Webmasters <webmasters@gnu.org>. (Except mail about the web pages for specific GNU packages should be directed to the maintainers of the package.)

For inquiries about donating to the FSF, ordering merchandise from the FSF, or to check on the status of your order,

check the order form, and then contact the FSF Ordering Department <fsforder@gnu.org> with questions.
