Fairest team
A total of 56 schools from Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein qualified for the final in Innsbruck as part of the official school project of the UEFA EURO 2008™. Realgymnasium Salzburg triumphed in the end and Dr Christoph Platzgummer, host city co-ordinator and Innsbruck deputy mayor, was thrilled with the event, saying: "EUROSCHOOLS helps youngsters to experience the value of sports in their daily interaction. The project made clear how versatile football is." Mirijam Weichselbaum, patron of the project, also praised the EUROSCHOOLS concept, adding: "The project supports encounters with foreign cultures and is fascinating and unique."

Member representatives
Tens of thousands of children from over 200 schools in Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein took part in the EUROSCHOOLS 2008, acting as representatives for UEFA's 53 member nations. Just like the professionals at the real event this summer, the finalists for the EUROSCHOOLS 2008 European Championship had to qualify for Innsbruck in one of seven EUROSCHOOLS CUPS in the UEFA EURO 2008™ host nations. The final was played on 29 June to determine the European Champion (the fairest team).
