Varuzhan Sukiasyan has resigned as coach of FC Ararat Yerevan just three weeks after his side lost 2-1 after extra time in a championship play-off match against FC Pyunik to miss out on winning the Armenian title.

Differences of opinion
Runners-up slot represented the club's best achievement since finishing second in the 2000 campaign, and Ararat also won the Armenian Cup and competed in the UEFA Cup this season. They have earned a place in qualifying for next season's inaugural UEFA Europa League, but Sukiasyan, who is also coach of Armenia's Under-21 team, has nonetheless stepped down.
