> European Mixed Champions!!! <

09.27.2008: Team Rainer Schöpp with third Andrea Schöpp, second Sebastian Jacoby, lead Mel Robillard, and alternates Helmar Erlewein & Monika Wagner claimed the European Mixed title today in Kitzbühel with a hard-fought 5:3 victory over Team Jiri Snitil of the Czech Republic. The final was tight from the beginning and after 4 ends was tied a 2:2. A steal of 1 for Team Schöpp in the 6th end proved to be pivotal as the Czechs scored 1 in the 7th, and Germany came home with a 1 point lead and hammer. The Czechs had a good end going in the 8th when Andrea made a fantastic angle-raise takeout to put Snitil in trouble again. With Snitil’s final shot of the game to make another angle-raise takeout, he had to make it in order to force an extra-end but instead missed on a jam and Germany became the 4th champions of the European Mixed Championship after two bronzes in 2005 (Andorra) and 2007 (Madrid). The title in Kitzbühel is a fabulous start to the competitive season, and will act as a springboard for the rest of this pre-Olympic year which will include the Europeans in O-Vik in December and hopefully pending qualification, the World Women’s in Gangneung City, Korea in March. However, there’s lots of work before that and a good celebration right now after this victory....The next competitive event for Team Andrea Schöpp will be the Women’s Masters in Basel...Until then, Team Schöpp wishes to thank everyone in Kitzbühel for a great week and also to those who supported the team during the week.

> German Mixed Champions!!! <

04.23.2008: Team Rainer Schöpp won the German Mixed Championship in Füssen with a 5:1 record and will now advance to represent Germany at the European Mixed Championship in Kitzbühel, Austria from 22-27 September 2008. Rainer was supported with Andrea, Sebastian Jacoby, Mélanie, and Helmar Erlewein. Monika Wagner will join the team as the 6th player at the EM Mixed. It was a successful championship for the SCR teams as Daniel Neuner and his teammate Dominik Greindl in Junior Men’s play finished 2nd place while the other half of Daniel’s junior team skipped by Florian Zahler with Johannes Glaser and Team Schöpp’s Anna Hartelt and another SCR Junior in Stella Heiß finished 3rd. Well done to these two teams!!! With this victory, it officially closes the 2007-08 season. The 2008-09 schedule will be posted when it is confirmed and will feature the European Mixed Championship and Le Gruyère European Championship in Sweden in December. Next season will be particularly important as it is the final full season before the Olympic season in 2010. Hence, the key will be to qualify Germany for the World Women’s Championship in Gangneung City, Korea and to earn enough points to qualify the Germans for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Additionally, we invite you to visit the Photo Gallery as some impressions from Vernon at the Ford Worlds have been added. So until later, we wish everyone a safe and fun summer and thank you for all the support during the season! Stay tuned as usual for continuous updates leading into the 2008-09 season! Cheers ~ Team Schöpp!

> Disappointing end to the Ford World Women’s <

03.31.2008: Team Schöpp wound up their campaign at the 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Vernon, BC, Canada with a tough 5:6 loss to the eventual silver medallists from China. The week ended with a 4-7 record and 9th place, but the record could have easily been different after 4 games were lost by only 1 point. In the end, the team played well but faced 11 teams who brought their very best games which made it difficult to find the extra points to win. The team also earned 4 Olympic points towards qualifying Germany for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010. Although the team’s final ranking was disappointing, Team Schöpp wishes to thank the organizing committee and volunteers in Vernon for an outstanding experience and would also like to congratulate the medallists at this year’s event. The team will now begin the process of building towards the 2008-09 campaign and in particular, the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships in Sweden in December. Make sure to check out the site for up-to-date news and schedules leading into next season! Until then, best wishes to all!!!

> Team Schöpp: German Champions again!!! <

02.11.2008: Team Schöpp won the Deutsche Meisterschaft/Bundesliga this weekend in Schwenningen with a 3-1 record. Only 3 teams competed including Dany Jentsch & Petra Tschetsch in the double round-robin. After Friday & Saturday, Team Schöpp won their three games with a tough 6:4 victory in the first game against Tschetsch where they stole the last 3 ends for victory. Then on Saturday, the team had two victories with a 9:5 victory against Jentsch and an easy 10:4 victory over Tschetsch again. The final game on Sunday against Jentsch was basically to determine 2nd and 3rd place between Jentsch & Tschetsch and had no implications to Team Schöpp’s placement. The team now will proudly wear the colours of the DCV at the Ford World Women’s Championship in Vernon, BC, Canada from 22-30 March and then again at the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships in O-Vik, Sweden in December. The mission at the Ford Worlds will again be to accrue as many Olympic points as possible in order to qualify Germany for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 as well as to earn a medal for Germany. Please visit our Ford Worlds Team Page here for up-to-date info on the team’s progress during the championship. We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support during the season and look forward to providing more excitement as the rest of the season draws to a close! Until then, best wishes and good curling to everyone!!!

> Team Schöpp finishes a disappointing week in Füssen at 3-6 <

12.06.2007: Team Schöpp completed a very difficult week in Füssen at the 2007 Le Gruyère European Curling Championships on Wednesday with a very key victory over the defending European Champs from Russia skipped by Ludmila Privivkova 8:3 and then narrowly lost 7:8 to Sweden’s Anette Norberg by giving up a steal in the extra end for the loss. Nonetheless, the week ended relatively positive after a frustrating week with the ice and stones where nothing seemed to get on track. In the end though, two main goals were achieved out of this. The German team’s 3-6 record was good enough for a share of 6th place which guaranteed Germany’s placement into the A-Division at next year’s Europeans in O-Vik, Sweden and also guaranteed Germany’s place at the 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Vernon, BC, Canada in the spring. By qualifying Germany for the Worlds, this allows the German team to accumulate points towards the qualification process for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver as only 10 teams qualify for the Games. Despite the setbacks of the week, Team Schöpp would like to thank the organizing committee and sponsors of this year’s European Championships for a great week of curling, the fans who have showed their support during the week for the team, and we would also like to wish the best of luck to all of the remaining teams in contention for the title. Team Schöpp would also like to thank Chris Haller for being the alternate for this week and also playing with the team as Anna had to skip a game due to injury. While Team Schöpp played the Europeans, this does not guarantee them a place in the Worlds in Vernon. The DM in January and February will determine Germany’s representative to the Worlds. Until then, the team will continue training in Garmisch and compete in the IBDC in Bern in January as usual. Thanks again and have a safe and happy holidays until we see you in the new year!

> Team Schöpp finishes WM with 4-7 <

03.24.2007: Team Schöpp wound up the Round-Robin at the WM in Aomori City, Japan with two positive wins against Russia and the Czech Republic with 8:7 and 6:4 scores respectively. Although their 4-7 record was disappointing, the team fought hard all week through illness and other factors and are determined to use this week as a learning experience for the future en route to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. The team would like to thank everyone for their kind messagse and support during the week in Aomori City. In addition, Team Schöpp especially thanks the people of Aomori City and the host committee for a wonderful week of fun and hospitality. With only the DM Mixed left on the calendar, the major events of 2006-07 have been completed and now the team looks toward next season which will feature the Le Gruyère European Championships in Füssen in December and hopefully the Ford World Women’s Championship which returns to Canada in Vernon, BC in March 2008. The team will be back and hungry for more success next season and look to claim more crucial Olympic Qualifying Points towards Vancouver 2010 (For the team’s performance this week, they claimed 2 Olympic points). We hope you will continue to join us on our journey here on Team Schöpp Web. Thanks a lot and good curling!

> Team Schöpp wins German Title again! <

02.26.2007: Team Schöpp continued their reign as German Champions winning the DM in Garmisch this past weekend with 7 straight victories. Daniela Jentsch finished 2nd with two losses while Petra Tschetsch claimed 3rd. The double-round robin ended after the first draw on Sunday when the rankings were already determined, which meant Team Schöpp did not have to play their 8th game. The win means that Team Schöpp will represent Germany at the Le Gruyère European Championships in Füssen this December, and if they qualify in the Top 8, then they will earn a trip to the Ford World Women’s Curling Championship to be staged in Vernon, BC, Canada in March 2008. However, their goal now turns to this year’s Women’s World Championship to be held in Aomori City, Japan in two weeks time. The team will look to improve on an outstanding 4th place result last year at Grande Prairie and look to qualify for Team Europe at this year’s Continental Cup in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Please visit our WM Pages here where you will find results, teams, and television information (Note: Eurosport is scheduled to broadcast from Aomori - schedule TBD, but I have heard that there will be 18 broadcasts). The team thanks everyone for their support and well wishes and will be shooting for success in Japan en route to their ultimate goal - the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver!

> Team Schöpp loses tie-breaker; finishes 5th in Basel <

12.15.2006: After a difficult week in Basel, Germany’s Team Schöpp finished with a 3:4 loss to Scotland’s Rhona Martin in the second of two tie-breaker rounds. Scotland advanced to the Page 3-4 playoff game against Switzerland’s Mirjam Ott while Germany finished in 5th place. The team would like to thank everyone for their support during the week in Basel and for following the action on the site. While the EM did not finish the way the team would have liked, there is still much to look forward to in the season. In a couple of weeks, the team will be heading to Bern for the Damen Turnier which pits some of the best ladies curling teams from around the world in an official WCT-E event. Following this event will be the Deutsche Meisterschaft and Bundesliga Finalrunde in Garmisch for the right to represent Germany at the 2007 EM in Füssen and 2008 WM in Vernon, BC, Canada. Finally, the season wraps up with the WM in Aomori, Japan where Team Schöpp will take on the best in the world for the World title. Teams who have qualified are as follows: Canada, United States, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Scotland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic, China, and Japan. Continue to follow this site as the WM page will be appearing shortly with television info and the draw information when it becomes available. Thanks again for joining us on Team Schöpp Web!

> Germany to play Scotland for place in Page 3-4 Playoff <

12.14.2006: After two tough losses to Russia’s Ludmila Privivkova and Scotland’s Rhona Martin on Wednesday, Team Schöpp will play a tie-breaker against Scotland to determine the final playoff spot in the Page 3-4 playoff against Swiss skip Mirjam Ott. Wednesday started with a difficult game against the much improved Russian team (finished Round-Robin perfect at 9-0). In a game that could have gone either way, the game came down to two crucial steals for Russia. In the 5th end, Andrea had a chance for 2 with a hack-weight tap back on a Russian stone that rolled partially in behind a German rock in the top 12 foot. With excellent weight, the line was curling half-way down the sheet on Andrea’s final rock before straightening out quickly and just missing the tap. The evening game saw Germany take on the 2002 Olympic Champion Rhona Martin of Scotland. This contest was tight right to the end with Scotland stealing two to win 6:3. Team Schöpp will now play Rhona again in the final tie-breaker after Scotland disposed of Sweden’s Camilla Johansson on Thursday Morning 7:6 after a great final draw to the button for Martin. Germany earned their place in the final round of tie-breakers after having the best draws to the button over Scotland and Sweden. More details to come after the tie-breaker!

> Germany vaults into 2nd place in Basel! <

12.11.2006: After a slow start to the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships, Germany’s Team Schöpp have now vaulted into a tie for second place with Scotland and Sweden at 4-2 through 6 draws of the championship. The day started with a key victory over Norweigan veteran Dordi Nordby with a 10:2 score. Deuces were wild in this game after Team Schöpp was able to steal two deuces in the first two ends and then stole another two deuces in the 5th and 6th ends to secure the victory. The evening session was more difficult against Hana Synackova’s Czech Republic rink as the score was tied 5:5 through 8 ends when the Czechs made some misses in the 9th end to allow Andrea to hit for 3 points before running the Czechs out of stones in the 10th for a 10:5 victory. With 3 games left, the goal is still to make the playoffs. However, of immediate importance is qualification to the Worlds in Japan in March for Germany. One more victory for Germany combined with a Norweigan loss will do the trick. Germany’s remaining games are tomorrow against the Netherlands (0-6) and two games on Wednesday against the leaders Russia (6-0) and Scotland (4-2). Send your messages of support by clicking here to support Team Schöpp in the stretch run of the round-robin and into the playoffs! We thank you for your support and for visitng Team Schöpp Web!

> Mixed Results at the EM in Basel <

12.10.2006: After two days of competition, Team Schöpp’s German crew sits in a tie for 4th place with Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Day one saw a nice start to the competition against Italy’s Diana Gaspari, defeating the team from Cortina d’Ampezzo 8:5. A steal of 3 in the 8th end vaulted Germany forward and secured the victory. The evening game was not as good as the team fell to Denmark’s Angelina Jensen 0:9. The determining factor in this game was the fact that Andrea had stomach pains which hindered her for the day. Still feeling the effects of this illness, Team Schöpp fought their way to an 8:4 victory over Camilla Johansson’s Swedish rink in the morning while dropping the evening encounter to Mirjam Ott 6:7 after Ott scored 3 deuces in the first 5 ends. Nonetheless, the girls are fighting hard through every game, and are still in the mix of things with two games slated for Monday against the Norweigan veteran Dordi Nordby and the Czech Republic’s Hana Synackova in the evening. The next televised game for Team Schöpp will be on Wednesday morning against Russia’s Ludmila Privivkova (the leaders at 4-0) on Eurosport. For those who do not receive Eurosport on regular television, you can still access games online through Eurosport’s livestream internet feed by clicking here for the UK Version or here for the German Version. Consult the Eurosport TV Schedules for game times. Bis morgen!

> Europe Wins The 4th Continental Cup of Curling! <

12.07.2006: Team Europe was victorious over Team North America in the 4th Edition of the Continental Cup of Curling in Chilliwack, BC, Canada with a final total of 229-171. The weekend proved to be a rousing success for Team Schöpp as they scored key points in their matches. In team play, they defeated the 2006 Olympic Bronze Medallist Shannon Kleibrink of Calgary 6:5, stealing 1 in the 8th end to score the victory and 6 points for Team Europe. Their previous game against the 2006 WM Bronze Medallist Kelly Scott of Kelowna was a 4:4 tie (no extra ends played in Continental Cup). Therefore, the 6 points was split between Europe and North America, and the 3 points scored by the team were the only points scored by Europe on this particular draw. However, the turning point for Europe came in the 30-point Skins Games. With the men and Markku Uusipaavalniemi of Finland scoring a big 20:10 victory over Pete Fenson of the United States, Team Schöpp unbelievably outdid that amazing score. After an early steal of 4 points in the 2nd end, all the points from ends 3 to 8 were carried over to make the 8th and final end worth 26 points with Team Schöpp having the hammer. With a North American (Debbie McCormick) rock buried on the side of the button, the North Americans were poised to steal the 26 points. It was left to Andrea’s last shot to either nose-hit the North American guard onto her own European stone which would angle onto the shot stone for either the carry-over or the skin (since there was another European stone in the top 8-foot), or angle raise the same North American guard onto the shot stone and pick it out to count the two European stones in the 8-foot. With the final stone being delivered by Andrea and hanging down a straight spot, the decision was changed to go for the angle-raise, and it was made to perfection leaving Team Europe with all 30 points in this game and shocking the North American bench. Though the final shot was made, Andrea said “The last one was luck.” Nonetheless, this inevitably made a hugh difference in the final running total for the Cup, and proved to be the turning point of the event in favour of Europe. By subscribing to CurlTV.com, you can view archived games of the Cup in the “Game Vault” including Team Schöpp’s Women’s Team play game against Kleibrink and the amazing 30-point Skins Game against Debbie McCormick. Team Schöpp would like to thank the people of Chilliwack, the volunteers, and host committee for the Continental Cup 2006 in Chilliwack for making them feel welcome and creating a memorable experience. Now onto the EM in Basel with the hopes of not only winning, but qualifying Germany for the WM in Aomori, Japan in March! Stay tuned for up to date coverage on Team Schöpp Web!

> Team Schöpp successful in Basel! <

10.15.2006: The first major event of the 2006-07 campaign finished today in Basel-Arlesheim, Switzerland at the 1. Re/Max Women’s Masters. Team Schöpp had an impressive weekend finishing with a record of 4-1 and earning 2’500 CHF. Their weekend began on Friday with 3 straight wins in the A-Road against Camilla Johansson of Sweden with 6:1, an impressive comeback victory against Manuela Kormann of Baden-Regio (CH) 9:8 on an extra end, and a victory over the 2-time Olympic Silver Medallist from Flims (CH) Mirjam Ott with 8:3. This earned the team direct qualification to the Quarter-Finals where they met Dany Jentsch of Füssen. Two 3-enders helped the team defeat Jentsch 7:6. Unfortunately, the team succumbed to Anette Norberg of Sweden in the semis after an excellent fight to the finish with 7:8. Nonetheless, the weekend proved to be an exciting one and is a great tune-up in Basel which will host the EM in December. Also of note, Team Schöpp scored two key victories over teams that have qualified for the EM (Johansson & Ott). This is exciting heading into the final preparations before the Continental Cup in Chilliwack and the EM in Basel. Next Tournament is in Garmisch in two weeks time!

> Welcome to Team Schöpp 2006-07! <

09.03.2006: The summer is over, and the fall is approaching. That means one thing: Curling is back! While the new season is fast approaching, Team Schöpp has been busy over the summer with training and summer tournaments in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. This season is very exciting for the team as there are at least two major events on the calendar. After several spiels in Switzerland and Germany, Team Schöpp will be proud to wear the jackets of Team Europe at the Continental Cup of Curling in Chilliwack, Canada at the end of November. Two weeks later, the team’s focus will turn towards seeking a European Championship crown in Basel, Switzerland at the Le Gruyère European Championships. The team will hope to represent Germany at the World Women’s Curling Championship in March 2007 at an exciting new venue for World Curling at Aomori City, Japan. In addition to two major women’s tournaments from the World Curling Tour Europe in Switzerland, it will be an exciting and busy year for Team Andrea Schöpp with much success and fun in the future. We hope you enjoy the new site, and will continue to visit our site for all of the latest news and results on the team. In the meantime, we invite you to sign our new guestbook by clicking the icon at the top of the page, or clicking here! For now, good luck and good curling!

> Team Schöpp = Team Europe <

09.03.2006: Team Schöpp is ecstatic to announce the news that our team has been selected for the prestigious Continental Cup of Curling in Chilliwack, Canada as a member of Team Europe. The WCF has chosen our team in addition to Team Anette Norberg (Sweden), Team Mirjam Ott (Switzerland), Team David Murdoch (Scotland), Team Markku Uusipaavalniemi (Finland), and Team Pål Trulsen (Norway) to compete in this “Ryder Cup” style event for curling against Team North America. This makes it the second major event on the calendar for Team Schöpp this season with our participation also in the Le Gruyère European Championships in Basel in December. Not only are we truly honoured for this achievement, but we are also greatly excited to participate in such an elite field of fellow curlers. More details can be found on our Continental Cup team page by clicking here or following the menu on the left. We appreciate all the support of everyone and we are excited for the future!
