Three contestants competed. In the first round, the players were shown a board comprised of 16 answers. 11 answers fit into a category given to the players, 5 did not; those answers were called "Wipeouts". The first player in line chose one of the answers. If correct, he could elect to pick again or pass to the next player in line. If the answer was wrong, he lost all of the money he had earned and play was passed to the next player automatically. When control was passed, that player had to choose at least one answer from the board before being given the opportunity to pass again. The first right answer was worth $25, and each subsequent answer was worth $25 more than the last, up to the 11th answer which was worth $275. One right answer also concealed a "Hot Spot", which would earn the player that found it a bonus prize, but only if he advanced to the next round and only if he avoided a Wipeout for the rest of the round. (If a Wipeout was hit, the Hot Spot went behind one of the other answers.) When all right answers or all Wipeouts were discovered, the two players with the highest scores got to keep their money and advanced to the second round. In the event of a tie, a board of twelve answers was shown in which eight were correct and four were wrong. Starting with the winner of a coin toss, the players would alternate choosing answers until one player chose a Wipeout and was eliminated.

In the second round, the players were shown a board of twelve answers: eight answers were right, four were wrong. Starting with the top money winner from the previous round, the players would bid on how many answers they believed they could find out of the eight. The bidding would continue until one player either bid to find all eight answers or challenged the other to fulfill his bid. That player had to then find all contracted answers in order to win that board. If a Wipeout was uncovered along the way, the other player could win the board by finding just one right answer. The loser of the previous board began the bidding on the next one. If a third board was necessary, the top money winner bid first. The first player to win two boards won the game, received a prize, and advanced to the bonus round.

Bonus Round

In the bonus round, the player was shown another board of twelve answers. This time, six answers were right and six were wrong. The player would then have 60 seconds to find all six right answers. This was done by running up to the board and touching the rims of the monitors with the answers the player wanted. No more than six screens could be highlighted at one time. Once six answers were chosen, the player would run back to hit a buzzer, which revealed how many of the chosen answers were right. If less than six were correct, the player would have to return to the board and change his answers. If the contestant could find all six right answers in under 60 seconds, he won a new car.

Champions played for a maximum of five days or until they won the bonus round.

Notes

  • To aid the contestant during the bonus round, each contestant who reached that point of the game were given their own pair of running shoes, supplied by the Kalpa shoe company.
