  UEFA's House of European Football in Nyon hosts the draws for the knockout rounds of the 2008/09 UEFA club competitions on Friday 19 December.
  
  The pairings for the UEFA Champions League first knockout round will commence from 12.00 CET, followed an hour later by the draws for both the Round of 32 and Round of 16 of the UEFA Cup. The draws will be conducted by UEFA General Secretary David Taylor and the ambassadors for next year's finals, Bruno Conti (UEFA Champions League, Rome) and Can Bartu (UEFA Cup, Istanbul).
  
  Both draws will be transmitted live on uefa.com.

Frédéric Kanouté is set to miss Sevilla FC's crucial Group C encounter at UC Sampdoria on Thursday with a right thigh injury ruling the Mali striker out of a game the two-time UEFA Cup winners can ill afford to lose.

In pain
The 31-year-old first noticed the problem during the 1-0 Liga win against Villarreal CF at the weekend, and although tests have ruled out a tear, Kanouté is still in too much pain to be risked for the trip to Genoa. Sevilla are second in their section and will earn a place in Friday's Round of 32 draw if they avoid defeat. They could yet be eliminated, however, if they lose and VfB Stuttgart beat R. Standard de Liège in Thursday's other Group C game.
