UEFA has made available a limited number of copies of the two books produced to commemorate its Golden Jubilee last year.

Boxed set
The two large-format books come in a boxed set. Richly illustrated and featuring many pictures never seen before, the tomes contain original texts by leading football journalists and other experts.

UEFA's evolution
The two volumes cover complementary aspects of UEFA's opening half-century. The first, of 400 pages, traces the evolution of the confederation since it was conceived by 30 national associations in the early 1950s to become the world's strongest continental sports body. It also spotlights each of the 52 member associations and a study of various aspects of the European game through the last 50 years, such as refereeing, sports medicine, fans, television, and so on.

Great names and teams
The second volume, of over 250 pages, concentrates largely on the competitions - dwelling on the teams, coaches and players that have created history on the field of play. It also picks out some of the more quirky aspects of European football since the middle of last century.

Specialist texts
The texts have been written by established authorities in many different areas of the European game as well as European history, from specialist journalists to coaches, doctors, media experts, sociologists and political and economic commentators.

Comprehensive review
"These two books are more than merely an update of that which was published in 1979 when UEFA celebrated its first 25 years," said UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson. "They are by far the most comprehensive review of the past half-century of European football ever undertaken, with many insights into UEFA's activities and developments since it was founded in 1954."

The books are available in English, French or German, at a cost of €100 including postage.
