First off, a whole hearted shout out to the Stormbearers, and a sincere hope you guys haven't resorted to cannibalism yet or using the alcohol as a fire excellerent. I'm just kidding, storm seasons haven't been fair to everyone this past year between the tropical storms that wrecked us and the snow storms up there, the sooner the 2008 weather season (year) is over, the better. We're in a last ditch heat wave right now; 78 degrees after three weeks of 52, 52, and 48. Coming up on the holidays, I want to say thank you to Josh and Dan for the unexpected, but much appreciated, holiday card. I say that because I'll be celebrating Hanukkah before X-Mas, and I'm too politically correct until after my third cup of coffee in the morning. None the less, the card was a great addition to the collection of Holiday countertop stuffers. Its currently sitting next to the Magic Eightball and Hanukkiah (the menorah) on the mantle.  Well, my Dad was forced to park at the bottom of the hill and walk the 1/2-block back home last night. (I had to help him fish it out today!) During the night, we got another 3", so we're up to 6" now! I tell ya- "I'm Dreamin' of a White Christmas" is rollin' through my head with a bit more frequency that it ever has in 16 years! Hopefully- it comes true this year for the first time! All over the Puget Sound area, we're getting reports of white-out conditions- I've never heard of that happening out here! Stuck at home? Gather 'round the ol' fireplace (or gas/electric stove), and make it a movie night! |

I got my card in the mail, and greatly appreciated the thought as well!
Where I live in Washington State, we rarely get above 3" annually and almost never drop below freezing. (Other areas in Puget Sound usually get a lot more snow than we do annually, Not counting the Cascade & Olympic Mountain ranges. Grr... that's one thing I miss from my childhood.)
But now we've had 3" for more than 48hrs, and the forecast says that [where I live] we may actually get a white Christmas!
(imitating Eric Cartman:) "Sweeet."
But, unlike most of the country, when the snow falls, all those usually-idiot drivers suddenly are like chickens with their heads cut off! Fortunately- still being unemployed- I don't have anywhere to go, so I can hang at home without concern. (Though I do worry that my Dad has to drive to/from 2nd-shift work...)
Trust me, 3" of snow and temps in the high 20s at night is very unusual weather for us. I love it!
