Size Doesn't Matter at Iceland's Penis Museum

Art-Iceland-Penis-Musuem1 Even the biggest size queen’s love of the phallic pales in comparison to that of Sigurdur Hjartarson, the founder and curator of the world’s only penis museum.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the museum—located in Iceland—is home to a total of 276 specimens. That number includes all of Iceland’s 46 mammals—as well as one human specimen penis donated in January.

San Jose Pride - August 20-21, 2011

SanjoseSan Jose overflows with interconnectivity.

Nicknamed the Capitol of Silicon Valley, it serves innovation and bold ideas better than most other cyber-obsessed cities in the USA. No wonder many of the world’s largest technology companies call it home.

Unplugged, the city embraces progressive politics and creative culinary and art scenes that criss-cross a diverse, active gay community not unlike its more urban neighbor to the north, San Francisco.

So let us show you the way to San Jose Gay Pride, August 20 and 21, at Discovery Meadow Park.

We want to celebrate with you!
Send us your Gay Pride photos. This year you can also upload videos from your phone!

Share your Pride with everyone in 2011! And don’t forget to check out our Gay Pride Gallery.

Sleep With Me:
Warm Sands Villas, Palm Springs

View-of-the-pool-area For many years, whenever my husband Steve and I visited Palm Springs, we would stay at one of the many gay resorts. They're always a fun escape from our hectic lives in Los Angeles, offering a space to relax, take a dip in the pool, and be our gay selves without stressing about what other hotel guests may think. But over the last three years we've primarily visited the desert with friends and rented a lovely Mid-Century Modern house, which was also fun but in a different way.

Then a couple weeks ago I was out judging a cocktail competition (tough job, I know) and got to stay at the Warm Sands Villas. It was such a refreshing change from the usual house rental situation—and not just because we had housekeeping.

The instant we entered the Spanish-style compound a wave of relaxation washed over us; we literally sighed and smiled as we saw the quiet, comforting pool, lounge chairs, and shaded foliage. Everything felt calm, like our stresses from the work week couldn't penetrate the walls of this compound, and we knew we were about to have a lovely weekend in the desert.

Gay Pit Stop:
Big Gay Ice Cream Shop

New New York’s popular Big Gay Ice Cream Truck is getting a spin-off: Big Gay Ice Cream Shop.

Bryan Petroff (left) and his partner Doug Quint, who launched the truck in June 2009, now have a brick-and-motar location in Manhattan’s East Village where they will whip up their specialty selections “Bea Arthur” (vanilla ice cream and dulce de leche mixed with crushed Nilla Wafers), “Salty Pimp” (vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche and sea salt in a chocolate dip) and “Mermaid” (ice and whipped cream mixed with key-lime curd and graham crackers).

The partners told DNAinfo.com they “hadn’t been actively looking Image640x480 (3) at real estate,” but when Petroff and Quint learned the space at 125 E. East Seventh Street was available, they decided to establish a permanent home base for their cool creations. The pair hopes to open the shop by the end of July or early August. And when customers finally walk through the Big Gay front door, they will be greeted by artist Sam Simon’s giant mural of a unicorn wearing a Bea Arthur cameo (right).

It's hard to imagine anything else this deliciously gay.

New York’s First Gay Hotel Finds a Home

Lobby_HQ_web With marriage equality hitting New York City it seems like the entire city is welcoming gays with open arms. And it's true that if you're traveling to New York—to get married, attend a wedding, or just have a gay ol' time that has nothing to do with the big event—you'll find plenty of places to stay. The gay dollar is always a welcome sight.

But why not slap down your gay green with a business that's not just interested in your money but in your life as well?

Right now the best option in the city is the Chelsea Pines Inn, but this is an LGBT guesthouse in New York City— more like a bed & breakfast than an actual hotel. For hotel options The Out NYC is the prize destination everyone is waiting for. It's labeled as "a Gay Urban Resort" and it's set to open on 42nd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues in Hell’s Kitchen.

When? Well, that's another story.

San Diego Gay Pride 2011 Photos

SD_Pride_Intro The sun was shining and folks flooded into the streets for Gay Pride San Diego this past weekend. The fun started on Friday as men and women came into town or just came out of their houses to hit all the restaurants and bars in Hillcrest. Then on a beautiful and bright Saturday morning, gays and lesbians headed to University Avenue for the parade, which included active servicemen marching to the cheers of everyone in attendance. From there attendees flocked back into local businesses, to outdoor parties like at Rich's nightclub, or down to the festival in Balboa Park.

One of the main events to hit was High Tea at the Andaz hotel downtown. This rooftop pool party was the "It" event on Saturday, featuring a nonstop flow of sexy boys, hunky studs, and burly bears—all hanging out, dancing it up, and taking dips in the pool. After a beautiful sunset the party continued at the numerous clubs well into the wee hours of the morning.

While Sunday featured San Diego's famous Zoo party, the guys at Gay.com were only down for Saturday. Fortunately, they took plenty of pics to give you all a feel for what the day was like. Check them out below.
