UEFA's Jubilee exhibition, which has been attracting football enthusiasts in Brussels in recent weeks, will move to the English National Football Museum in Preston, north-west England from 22 October.

Words and pictures
The exhibition tells the story in words and pictures of UEFA since its birth in Basel, Switzerland in June 1954, highlighting the competitions and great players of the past five decades, and including a wealth of fascinating mementoes and souvenirs.

Brussels stay
The European parliament in Brussels played host to the exhibition from late September, before it moved to the Roi Baudouin stadium in the Belgian capital for a week-long stay.

Memorabilia
The National Football Museum in Preston has provided UEFA with all manner of accompanying memorabilia, which includes old shirts, match programmes, a pair of 19th century shinpads, and football boots endorsed by Tom Finney, the legendary Preston North End FC and England winger of the 1940s and 1950s.

Wide range
Keith Cooper, UEFA's Jubilee co-ordinator, said that the exhibition's aim is to "show the wide range of UEFA activities that most people don't readily appreciate".

UEFA's role
"We can show how the size and success of the competitions provides more resources for the development and success of the other non-competitive activities," he added. "That and the responsible manner in which UEFA goes about administrating European football, the experience accumulated over 50 years and the importance of being allowed to maintain its authority within the game."

Tremendous honour
"To be asked by UEFA to contribute to their Jubilee celebrations is a tremendous honour for the museum," said National Football Museum spokesman Richard Cuthbert. "It really is further testament to the excellent international reputation of the National Football Museum as one of the world's leading sports museums backed by an expert exhibition design team."
