Q: Will my little project get lost in the huge maze of large, complicated Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne projects?

A: No, your project will be coordinated by a dedicated business office, who will get the right staff assigned and track it from purchase order through deliverables and invoicing.

Q: I thought Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne only built rocket engines. Why should I choose you compared to another engineering company?

A: Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne has well over 1,000 Engineers and Scientists in its employee base. We are “Rocket Scientists,” but our expertise covers all engineering fundamentals and cutting-edge research. Our strength includes the knowledge of these individuals, which is transportable to most Engineering matters. We have satisfied customers in areas ranging from the oil industry to major utilities to sporting goods manufacturers.

Q: I am concerned that my project is too small for Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne. What size project are you willing to accept?

A: We have greatly streamlined our contractual processes, so we are able to perform efficiently on much smaller projects than you might think. We are interested in projects with values of $5000 and up.

Q: How long does it take a company as big as yours to get “on contract?” I can’t wait 3 months to start my project.

A: We can literally get our customers on contract within a day of receiving a customer purchase order, along with a signed standard contract. It is also necessary to execute a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to PWR issuing an offer, to protect company-sensitive information. This step goes smoothly if our customers use the Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne NDA. We will consider minor changes to the Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne NDA.

Q: How long will it take to get a quote from you on my job?

A: That all depends on the size of the job and the work description. If you have a clear statement of work and we follow with clarification questions, we can quote and extend an offer to you within a day or two for discrete, short-term tasks. Larger product design and development tasks may take a little longer based on the dialogue process and the complexity of the project.

Q: Hiring Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne would be way too expensive for my company, wouldn’t it?

A: Here it also depends. If you are attempting to remedy a failure, how much income are you losing daily? What value does a solution have to your company and your customers? Could a normal engineering services company be trusted to solve this critical problem? How important is immediate resolution of your problem? Our prices are based on market value, and we can offer recognized technical talent and world-renowned unique expertise. When it is time to develop a product, perform a unique service, or have a group of outside experts review your design, Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne will provide excellent value.

Q: I am very worried about the possibility of cost overruns on my project if I went with Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne. What can be done to eliminate that risk? What are your hourly rates?

A: Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne’s preferred contracting method is Fixed Price Level of Effort (FPLOE). This means our obligation is to deliver defined outputs to the customer for a not-to-exceed number of hours. All risk is therefore borne by Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne if there are no changes in scope. Other contracting methods for more undefined work scope include “not-to-exceed,” “firm-fixed price,” and “time and material.” Any project-specific pricing information is best discussed with our staff after a statement of work is developed, either by you, or in conjunction with our staff.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Our primary offices are based in Canoga Park, California and West Palm Beach, Florida, but we access talent and facilities across the country. Specifics of your job needs will dictate where the work occurs. Often it is a combination of visiting the customer job site, and working at our locations, where a wealth of valuable existing tools and assets are available to us.

Q: I am interested in working for Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne. Where can I submit my resume or look at a list of open positions?
