Michigan native Anya Marina may have started out spinning other people's music as a radio DJ at in San Diego, but now the indie songstress looks for her own creations to permeate the airwaves. Since hitting open-mic nights with her quirky mixture of melancholy songs and silly, spot-on impersonations, Marina has released several popular works, including her 2005 album, "Miss Halfway," which caught the attention of Alexandra Patsavas, the cutting-edge music supervisor for powerhouse shows "Grey's Anatomy," "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl," among others.
Now signed to Patsavas new label, Chop Shop Records, Marina will unveil her most recent release, "Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II," January 20.
