Update: I edited parts of How Wikipedia Works (online @ No Starch Press), a GFDL book which will hopefully tear down the community barriers to entry for a new generation of Wikipedians. Now I can't wait for the on-WP version.

Retro Sj

Greetings. I am sj, or Samuel Klein. I am a Wikipedian, a one laptop per child organizer, a mathematics and physics zealot, a clutch proofreader, and a long-time Bostonian. See my blog, SJ's Longest Now, and the OLPC Wiki for more. I have an xdi sj-entity, but no .sj domain (Svalbard and Jan Mayen having decided not to allow registrations). I have been here since January 2004. I am currently an administrator here and on the Nahuatl Wikipedia, and a steward for other Wikimedia projects; if you need assistance with a small project that does not currently have active administrators, feel free to ask for help.

I often communicate about what Wiki[p|m]edia does, and organizing local and international community events. I enjoy working on related projects: I am the secretary of the special projects committee, and have a server dedicated to analyzing and running regular statistics on Wikipedia data.

I work to expand the world's collection of free knowledge: identifying and freeing large data repositories and publications owned by well-meaning but copyright-confused people and groups. As of this August, I am the director of content for the One Laptop per Child association; helping to distribute access to these collections and the ability to contribute to them. Over the past two years I have worked at synchronizing Wikipedia-wide translations and bringing together translators from across the projects. You can also reach me by phone : +1 617 529 4266.

I do hoard Klein bottles, look snappy in a trenchcoat, but did not model for Levine's detective Sam Klein.
