Who, in November 1978, became the first black footballer to play for England?
WRONG!
The correct answer was c), Viv Anderson.
Born in Nottingham in 1956, Anderson played at right-back in the Nottingham Forest side which had won the First Division title in the 1978/79 season. Against Czechoslovakia on 29 November 1978, he became the first black player to win a full England cap. At the time, there were an increasing number of very talented young black players in the top flight of English football, and much speculation had centred on which of this promising crop would be the first to be called-up by England. Anderson went on to make 30 appearances for England between 1978 and 1988, scoring twice, and was part of the World Cup squad in both 1982 and 1986.
