  The CRE's statement on the Higher Education Bill is available on request
• Housing Bill
  Proposed clauses
  We are proposing a number of additional clauses to the Housing Bill in relation to the provision of sites for Gypsies and Travellers.
  Early Day Motion (79)
  We would also urge you to sign the Early Day Motion (79), calling upon the Government to introduce a statutory duty on local authorities to provide and facilitate Gypsy and Traveller sites.  The motion has cross party support and recognises that an increase in Traveller sites will benefit both the Traveller and non-Traveller communities. The motion is also supported by a wide range of pressure groups and organisations representing a broad range of community interests - see here.

• Prison service found guilty of racial discrimination
  Seventeen findings of unlawful racial discrimination within HM Prison Service are described in a new CRE report, Racial Equality in Prisons.
• Former top prosecutor to lead investigation into police service
  The CRE announced that Sir David Calvert-Smith QC will lead the CRE’s formal investigation into racism in the police service.

• Funding programme seeks results
  Voluntary and community bodies wishing to deliver race equality work are invited to seek funding from the CRE under its Getting Results programme.
• Sports partnerships achieve racial equality standard
  Northamptonshire Sport and Tees Valley Sport have become the latest Active/County Sports Partnerships to achieve the Preliminary Level of the Sporting Equals' Achieving Racial Equality: A Standard for Sport.
