Dragons Take Four of Five Freestyle Individual Events in Meet Versus Binghamton

Philadelphia - Drexel's Craig Podgurski won the 100, 200 and 500 free events while Adrian Sabovici took the 1000 free in the Dragons' dual meet against Binghamton. The Bearcats took the meet, 161-139, but several Drexel performers earned first-place finishes, including a win in the 400 free relay.

Podgurski took the 100 free in a time of 47.29 and the 200 after touching in 1:43.01. He completed his dominating performance with clocking of 4:42.94 in the 500 free. He also swam anchor on Drexel's 400 free relay team that won the event. Matthew Fenn, Matthew Tannenbaum, Cem Karali and Podgurski finished the event in 3:12.06 to earn the Dragons 11 team points.

Sabovici showed his form as one of the top distance swimmers in the area when he took the 1000 free with a time of 9:45.90. Armagan Yavuz finished first in the 200 fly after posting a time of 1:56.80. In diving competition the Dragons took both events as Ian Jevnick won the 3-meter board with a score of 341.85 while Jake Roberson claimed first on the 1-meter board with a score of 292.35.

Drexel will return to action on Jan. 23 when the Dragons travel to Providence to take on the Friars at 1:00 p.m.
