And with that, Tom Waits' highly anticipated 2008 "Glitter and Doom" tour is off and running! The ace entertainer sauntered into Phoenix's Orpheum Theatre last night, backed by an unsettling array of old megaphones and his trusty band. Dude's certainly got the snake oil salesman/carnival barker look down pat, we'll give him that.
Mr. Waits returns to the Orpheum this evening before coasting along the southern half of the country through early July. He'll then hop continents (by stowing away on a pirate ship or riding an iceberg or something, knowing him) for a few weeks of European dates. Keep telling those tales, Tom; they never get old.
