The current Constitution of Mongolia was adopted on January 13. 1992, put into force on February 12, and amended in 1999 and 2001. The new constitution established a parliamentary democracy in Mongolia, guaranteeing freedom of religion, rights, travel, expression, etc. It is the supreme law and was written after the 1990 Mongolian democratic revolution that dissolved the Mongolian People's Republic. It also outlines all the basic laws of Mongolia in terms of the unalienable rights, the government setup, election cycle, etc.

Previous constitutions had been adopted in 1924, 1940 and 1960.
